History of Telangana:
The name of the Telangana state originated from the word Trilinga Desa owing to the three ancient temples of Hindu Lord Shiva at Kaleshwaram, Srisailam, and Draksharamam. According to another reasoning, the name originated from the word Telugu Angana, the name with which it was known during the Nizam rule.
The state has seen reign of many great dynasties such as Satavahanas, Kakatiyas, Chalukyas, Mughals, Qutub Shahis and Asaf Jahis which resulted in many architectural wonders located here. Most of the popular forts were built during the reign of Kakatiyas while the magnificent Golkonda fort was built during the Qutb Shahi Dynasty. His reign is also known to be a golden period for Telugu literature as during his rule, many reverent Telugu poets such as Addanki Gangadhar Kavi, Panuganti Telanganarya and Kandukuri Rudra Kavi flourished.
